The Fight for Freedom in Mexico and Darfur
Darfur Now – If you think you’ve got it rough check out Darfur Now. This documentary is the story of six very different people who are all trying to end the genocide in the Sudan. First hand experiences make this film real, raw, and at times shocking. This life altering documentary is a must see for anyone who has ever tried to make a difference and anyone who thinks that they can’t make a difference. Pure inspiration. Directed by Ted Braun and starring George Clooney and Don Cheadle.
The Violin – When an oppressive government wages war with an army of peasants they endure torture, rape, assault and murder because they are cut off from their ammunition. With the help of his son and his grandson a violinist tells the guards at the checkpoint that he has to tend to his crops and smuggles bullets in his violin case to his countrymen, but he has to play for the Commanding Officer every time he returns leaving his bullets exposed. This film isn’t the most awarded Mexican film in history for nothing. A must see! Starring Angel Tavira, Gerardo Taracena and Dagoberto Gama.
