New DVDS for your collection

Who's got time to go to the movies? BLUR has you covered with the DVDs you will want for your collection. Plus, check out our lists of the best DVDs that tried to assemble a great multicultural cast or had a unique perspective on race or ethnicity, at home or abroad. From the best interracial buddy movies to the ones with top swirl, we put together our choices. What are yours?

imageFlawless – In 1960’s London Laura Quinn is the only female at the London Diamond Corporation.  She has grown tired of seeing her less talented, inexperienced male colleagues get promoted over her when a seasoned janitor aware of her discontent suggests that they steal two million pounds worth of diamonds.  The plan goes off without a hitch, but from there the story begins to twist and turn slowly revealing the depth of their heist leading to a thrilling finale.  This is a wonderful film and a must see for all women who have been victims of the glass ceiling not to mention one of the best caper films in a long time.  The majestic scenery of London in the background is icing on the cake.  Starring Demi Moore, Michael Caine, and Lambert Wilson.

imageBoarding Gate – After an S & M session ends in violence an ex prostitute is forced to flee London for Hong Kong where she meets a young couple who promise to help her get money and citizenship.  Nothing goes as planned and she is thrust back into the underworld of manipulation that she was trying to escape.  This film does a great job of showing the seedier side of London and Hong Kong.  An official selection of the Cannes Film festival in 2007, “Boarding Gate” is a brilliant action/adventure film from the acclaimed French director Olivier Assayas.  A must see for anyone tired of the typical Hollywood thriller.  Starring Asia Argento, Michael Madson and Kelly Lin.

Fresh on Disc: “The Violin,” “Darfur Now”

Fresh on Disc: “Frontier(s),” “Indiana Jones Trilogy”

Fresh on Disc: “Bella, Saawariya”

Fresh on Disc: Golden Compass, Hero Wanted
