El Guincho: Alegranza!
El Guincho’s Alegranza! doesn’t take any time to build up to a heroic climax. The album opens with a rupturing of cheers and applause on the track ‘Palmitos Park’, and from that point forward, the celebratory feel that’s both widely apparent and perfectly captured on the eight songs that follow is set. El Guincho—or Pablo Díaz-Reixa, as he was born—brilliantly fuses together a bizarre array of sounds over the course of his debut, sampling everything from afro-tribal beats to choral chanting, and masterfully layers it all over electronically induced pop. The result is a tropical cyclone of rhythm—a unique listening experience that’s sure to provoke resounding “ooos” and “ahhhs” while simultaneously getting everyone on their feet.

Outstanding disc.....great fusion of sounds. Great to see you’re reviewing stuff that’s a little out of the ordinary. My first listen and I loved it. Thanks!
