Does it all really start in the kitchen, or around a table?

Seems like much of our life is spent in the kitchen, or around different tables for great meals or coffee, or whatever. I’ve found the experiences can be much more interesting with people, who like me, have been mixing it up all our lives, with food, culture, languages. The ingredients seem to change all the time, depending on who we’re with.

I’m hoping to find a place where I/we can talk about some of these things. Many times we wind up laughing about how our lives have become such an interesting mush. Anybody else out there feel the same way?

Definitely.  I like that we have the good fortune to have our lives be all mashed together, especially in this country.  I feel very fortunate to be able to meet different people of different cultures, backgrounds, traditions, etc. every day.  It makes the world seem that much smaller when you realize there are so many similarities and commonalities - especially when you decide to adopt some of those traditions yourself.

In a world that is so big, I feel that the only way to get a great big taste of it is to keep on combining different ingredients (both in people and food) and what better way to do it than at your kitchen table.

I agree! A lot of the travel I’ve done has been through food, and the friends I’ve made while enjoying, cooking, and looking for it! We never really have to leave home or our home towns to experience it as our senses & imaginations can do a lot of the work for us. But of course it’s better to experience while visiting cool places and taking in the surroundings as well.

Thanks for responding! Thought my question got lost!
