I am an Assistant Professor in the College of Public Programs, School of Social Work at Arizona State University. I identify as Biracial (Black/White), and reside with my dog Yuma in Phoenix, Arizona. As a biracial individual and as a social scientist, I am interested in learning more about the unique experiences of other mixed-heritage persons in the US and around the globe. In particular, I am interested in understanding how multiracial individuals personally define their racial and cultural identity in a society which often attempts to ascribe one to them. Personally I believe that by sharing their stories I am able to share my own.
