Mom and Dad, and all that followed
My whole life is a Blur! Born in Brazil, moved to Spain at age 7, moved to the US at age 14, back to Brazil for college, back to the US for work. Married another Brazilian and together made 3 "Blurry" children (13, 10 and 7) --Brazilian at heart, American by birth-- who love rice and beans and watch foreign movies with subtitles! The idea of being part of Blur has intrigued me from the beginning, raising the wonderful awareness that the more we embrace diversity, the more we are able to truly enjoy life in all of the forms, shapes and colors that it presents itself (or is it the other way around?), and the closer we can get to our true nature as humans.

“When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up, mom?”, my kids have recently asked me. A seamstress, a scientist, a hairdresser, a teacher, a dancer, a researcher, a spy, a doctor… (probably in that order). And what have I accomplished? Pretty much all of them, with a bigger or lesser degree of professionalism. In my many years working as a newspaper and magazine photographer, for example, I’ve come very close to being a full-time spy. Close enough to satisfy my curiosity. The researcher dream is a work in progress, constantly fulfilled as a freelance writer and editor. The rest… leave them to the Mom side of me: doctor, scientist, hairdresser (includes clients other than my own children), teacher, seamstress, and yes, I have to dance once in a while to stay sane!
