The first thing that many people think about when obtaining items to make sure they can survive an earthquake is a ton of water due to the expectation that fresh water will be hard to come by if an earthquake hits and knocks out the water system. Although in places like California there are many jokes about the "big one" coming and devastating the area, it's important that survival kits include more than just a few band-aids. Things like antibacterial wipes, cotton batting and things like Aspirin an acetaminophen are important as well and can be handy in a pinch as well as during a disaster.
