I myself am a second generation BLUR: my mother is half Mexican, as well as German, Irish and Dutch, and my father is from Canada. This blended ethnic and cultural heritage is what makes me a BLUR, but this reality extends beyond the box I check on forms; the food I eat, the music I listen to, my world view, my family, and my friends all cross cultural boundaries and ignore traditional definitions. I've come to realize that the focus shouldn't be on what makes two people different or the same, but rather the space in between -- therein lies the blur.
